Both Points Of View!

Below are comments from one of Gentle Giants' adopters who has had many great experiences adopting and fostering dogs from Gentle Giants Rescue and tried to share her good experience:

"When I tried to stand up for the truth, they deleted me from the board. They only want lies and false stories and to repeat them over and over again as if they are true.  THEY ARE FIGHTING TO MAKE SURE NO TRUTH IS ALLOWED ON THESE MESSAGE BOARDS!!!"

"She deleted us from the board. I already responded that I felt she was turning her board into a "Rescue" board, and not a fun place for Dane owners to meet. No biggie, I don't want to belong to any group that only BASHES!! Sad!"

Below you will read a series of posts from one of Gentle Giants real adopters as they try to defend Gentle Giants with the truth in face of people who are telling outright lies.  The lies get more vicious as the Gentle Giants adopter continues defending Gentle Giants, and then when these mean spirited people have no defense for their lies, they begin deleting the posts from their message board.  Finally, in their desperation to avoid embarrassment about their lies being exposed, these bad people delete the Gentle Giants adopter from their message board.  They make sure that the truth will not prevent them from bashing Gentle Giants Rescue and telling lies.  A very sad situation when lies and vicious gossip are more important to some people than the truth. Read below how the scenario plays itself out:

As I have shared before, I feel it is fair to share both sides of an issue. We have gotten our dogs (one adopted and now on our 3rd foster) from Gentle Giants and had a good experience. The first time we went there, we got to meet the resident dogs, so we could see what a full grown healthy dog would look like. This was the chance for anyone to back out, if they weren't ready for that size of a dog, and what it entails (lots of fur and drool...LOL). We were able to veiw many different dogs, besides Danes as the other adopters were interested in Mastiff's and other big dogs. We had a Fawn in mind, but when we saw a beautiful black one come out, we started to change our mind, until another couple claimed her first. She was a total sweetie. One of the last dogs to come out was our Sasha. She was so pretty and sweet. A little stuck up, but that makes her the Princess these days.

After the adoption, Burt and Tracy even helped us with our cat issue, as my cat was a very odd cat, that was very, very noisy, always getting Sasha's attention. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy with Sasha and answered all our questions about every little thing we were not sure about, regarding Big Dogs.

Since then, we have fostered 2 other dogs, that found forever homes. Both were very sweet and healthy. Max is our current foster dog, and we fell in love with him the minute we met him. We are sure he has found his forever home here.

We have stayed in touch with Burt and Tracy and can't say anything bad about them. They give us hugs and tell us how much they appreciate us when we see them.

Even though this can be a volatile issue, everyone should be allowed their opinion. It should be fair to share both sides, so others can draw their own conclusions:

I agree with you Mindy. There are always 2 sides to every story. I am glad you feel so strongly about them. To me that shows me "your" passion. I posted that "Caution" about Gentle Giants so people would go in with their eyes wide open. I got my Cowboy from them and also did not have any issues but when you are as deep into the Rescue World as I am.. it is hard when most of the other Rescue's are so against these people...they post on their web site that they work closely with other Rescues but I have not heard one nice thing from another one. ?????????

Remember I sent you to LNS and how big of a group they are. THEY are full of Rescue people and top breeders. Have you also posted this on their site ? I would be interested to see the response you get from them.

I'm not trying to stop anybody from going there cuz I feel the dogs are the ones suffering but the stories don't stop at just that site.

Thank you Brenda for allowing me to share our experience. I did check out the other sites, and it just seems like a "slam-fest" to me, and I dont want to get into the middle of that. The few postings that came up in favor of GG, were bashed immediately and deemed "false". Who wants to put themselves up against that type of bashing?

Breeders and rescues are 2 different "animals", and both have their own point of view. I don't totally agree with how some breeders treat their dogs and think of the whole "breed" thing. It is sad when there are so many dogs out there that need a good home, and breeders seem to care more about creating a "pure" and perfect line, than loving a dog for what it is. This goes for both dogs and cats. They are pretty to look at, but there is more to a pet than that. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying all breeders are like that, but the few I have seen like that, are snooty and look down their nose at an "unpure" dog.

I know they are trying to say that GG is a breeder, but from my experience, I just don't see that as the case at all and find it hard to believe. It's all a bunch of he said, she said, so I will have to just stand by our own experience, along with the others that have said the same, "no issues", including you.

If your experience wasn't a bad one, can't you share yours, too?

-- I hope this can be the end of the discussion, so we can continue to talk about the Danes we love so much and enjoy their quirks and continue to meet others who own then, no matter where they got them from.-- Mindy

I will share my experience.

I wanted a Great Dane doggie so bad that I was obsessed with getting one. Checking the internet constantly looking for a FAWN dane. Than one day I was looking in the paper and saw this add for Great Dane Puuppies. It must of been 9:00 in the evening but I didn't care.. I called the add and asked the guy if I could come see the puppies. I grabbed Jennifer "my daughter" and off we went. Not knowing who these people were I knocked on their door and was lead into the Garage where there was a liter of the cutest puppies and well.. I said OMG I want that one and 550.00 dollars later I had this little ball of joy in my hands.

Now Cowboy was only 6 weeks old when they let him leave with me and come to find out that is a no no but I didn't find that out until years later that he was too young to leave his mom. They did offer to me to see his Dad but I never saw his mother and when you look at Cowboy do you think he is all Great Dane ??? I use to but now I have my doubts.

When I got him home he was sick with horrible diareah but that didn't bother me either.. I just took him to the vet and we fixed him up. See none of this stuff even bothered me because I had no clue that anything was wrong. I don't care if he is a show dog in the ring or anywhere else for that matter. He is my show dog and I love him to pieces........now he better make us some money at the kissing booth or no more chicken for him... lol

Okay.. that was my story.

Brenda

Comments from the Gentle Giants adopter:

"When I saw the "experience" Brenda wrote above about adopting Cowboy from Gentle Giants Rescue, I knew that it could NEVER have happened.  Just like when I read the other stories on the sites that Brenda sent me.  People were writing with such venom and vicious conviction, yet as a real GG Adopter, I could tell the stories were false. It gives me a sick feeling to know that people are telling lies.

And I  like you Brenda, but either you did NOT adopt Cowboy from GG or you have completely forgotten your real experience because what you wrote would be impossible to have happened, even in the seemingly innocent form you have "shared" it.  My husband read it and he shook his head too, instantly knowing it was false.  I was about to comment on it last week, when Angela wrote her "story" below Brenda's, which you see Angela's story has now been completely removed as if it were never written.

Note: Actually, Brenda has removed this entire post, has deleted me from the board, and does not want anyone to see the truth, only her lies - so I have copied and  reposted it so that people I have met here can still see "Both Points of View" especially now since I am sure the bad point of view that is being pushed on this message board is completely FALSE and is based on lies ).  The minute I read Angela's "story," though it was complex and vicious, I also knew that it was false and stated many things that I knew were NOT true about GG.  But things were becoming complicated and now it was depressing and more time consuming defending  the truth, so I stopped.

I really wanted to give my view point again because I know that GG is a great rescue and that Tracy and Burt are doing great things saving lives, but I felt frustrated by the depth of the hate I was reading in these emails, even though I knew in my heart that the stories were false.  I am sure that there are more than 10,000 adopters like me who want very badly to defend GG, but no one wants to be attacked by people who are already so viciously lying about GG!?  Tracy Ward told me that I should not get in the middle of this group of liars because what they are doing is only to hurt dogs and she wants us to spend our time loving our dogs, not fighting with hateful people who have very bad motives that everyone will soon see very clearly."

For those who want to understand what is going on with this hate game based on lies and false stories you can read this article "Attack Of The Blogs":  http://www.gentlegiantinfoandnews.com/attack_of_the_blogs.htm and see how vicious people misuse the internet to harm others - just what these people on the message board are doing to GG, which is a great rescue.  This is an article about how good people like GG are attacked by online lynch mobs spouting liberty but spewing lies, libel and and false stories and how others repeat them and even begin to believe they are true. But no matter how many times or in how many places these lies are repeated, they will still be just that, lies and false stories.  If any person is ever really swayed from adopting from GG, it will only hurt the dogs and it will only be based on lies.

Most people who read these lies can see right through them, and that's why GG is still rescuing and adopting dogs every day of the week. They rescue and adopt more than 1,000 dogs a year!  Thank goodness for the dogs who need to be rescued and found great homes like ours!!!!  Notice there are no photos of the dogs on any of these trashy websites because GG has photos and videos on the very day that every adopter takes their dog home.  And all the dogs look great and were vet checked on this very day they went home by licensed veterinarians, so are very healthy.  People like me who have REALLY adopted from GG and who have a great experience to talk about are thousands in the majority and are spreading the word everyday that GG is the place to adopt the best dogs, that Burt and Tracy are really great people who love the dogs and who are there to help every adopter when they want help.

GG's greatest defense is the truth and what their more than 10,000 happy adopters have experienced. You can see it for yourself, too, and if you want to adopt a dog from a great rescue, this is the place to go:  http://www.gentlegiantsrescue.com

And this is the place to go for answers as to why these bad people are targeting GG and to be assured that GG is one of the finest rescues with the most beautiful, healthiest and best trained dogs:  http://www.gentlegiantinfoandnews.com

For people on this message board who really want the truth, you can see the answers to Brenda's false experience and the truth about Angela's now removed false comments:

By the way, Angela was told to remove her comments by Elaine Hudson, the founder of West Coast Mastiff Rescue, who has worked with Tracy Ward and GG for years and who was "shocked and sickened" by the many lies in Angela's post. See Elaine Hudson's comments.

For the rest of us, I think we should do what this meetup was created for, help and enjoy each other -  tell the truth, and share our experiences in positive ways about the dogs that we all love!

SADLY THE GENTLE GIANTS ADOPTER WAS NOT ALLOWED TO BE PART OF THIS MEETUP BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO STAND UP FOR GENTLE GIANTS RESCUE WITH THE TRUTH. UNFORTUNATELY, SOME PEOPLE ARE SO DEDICATED TO BASHING OTHERS THAT THEY NEVER HAVE MET AND KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BASED ON COMPLETE LIES AND FALSE INFORMATION.  THESE JERKS HAVE BECOME AN ONLINE LYNCH MOB TARGETING GOOD PEOPLE WHO ARE TRULY MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR THE BETTER IN THIS WORLD.
